Weekend of Fun and news to report.

This was a great weekend, seeing many visitors from Winnipeg, all of whom have never met Carter before-what a charmer he was! Lorraine threatened to steal him a few times-hmmm, not sure if we like that idea.

Just a short post today, as there are plenty of pictures to check out. I thought I would update you that I think we can count last night as Carter's first night he slept through. He went from 10:00pm to 5:00 am without eating. Although, Matt and I put Carter down to sleep at 7:00pm, so essentially, he slept for 10 hours (he sleeps through his 10:00 feed-Matt and I do it with a bottle while he is still sleeping...tricky, eh?)

Apparently this whole sleeping through the night thing is quite newsworthy-as everyone seems to be quite interested in this little fact. Matt and I count ourselves as quite lucky though, as Carter has never really had a problem sleeping at all during the night. Rarely have we had to get up more than once to feed or comfort him during the night (don't get any jinxing ideas baby gods!)

Enjoy the pics everyone!

I had such a good time with my visitors this weekend! What FUN! Posted by Hello

"Nobody puts Baby in the Corner!" Posted by Hello

Doesn't Anyone Remember Dirty Dancing?

OK-

This Dirty Dancing reference may only be hilarious to some (at least I hope it is funny for someone out there!)

Carter is having an off day today, I think some effects from the shots yesterday. Honestly, I was surprised he would even let me toss him on a bunch of pillows, throw him in the corner and subject him to several dozen pictures. I guess I don't need to tell you, there were no smiling shots!

Carter is expecting visitors this weekend, so hopefully his mood will be a little lighter by that time. Derek and Sonya Penner and their son Jackson (7 months, I think) will be visiting for the weekend. It will be the first time the boys meet, so we will see which baby wins the wrestling match (may the strongest baby get fed first!)

Also, John and Lorraine Thistlethwaite (John and Matt worked together at Infocorp) will also be stopping in Friday night, and making us pancakes on Saturday morning! YUM!

Nothing really new to report. Feel free to make comments on pictures that you see, or even add to posts like this that you are reading.

anon!

2 month well check up

Well, the stats and facts are in...Carter had his visit to the doctor's today, and by all reports he is doing very well, but what else would you expect?

Carter did get his set of 4 shots today, and I have to say, after having a nap cut short this morning, and being up WAY past his 2nd nap time-he was doing pretty well, but he did holler through the whole process. I also have to admit, I was pretty close to pulling him off the table when the clinician came in with 4 needles, and then started jabbing Carter in quick succession. He was already crying by this point, and this just made him cry harder (the cry that accompanies a cough and a loss of breath he is crying so hard). This made me cry...and the clinician reassured me the shots get easier...YEAH, right!

So, on to the good news.

Carter now weighs 13lb 9oz and is in the 90% for weight. His head circumference is 16", putting him in the 75% for head big-ness. His height is 23 3/4" placing him again in the 75% for long-ness. If you want to know what all this percentile stuff is about, check out this website: http://www.kidsgrowth.com/resources/articledetail.cfm?id=304

So, Dr. Skemp is quite pleased-Carter is doing well by all reports. We did get a referral to a physiotherapist because Carter is developing a flat spot on the back of his head. Apparently the PT will give us a set of exercises to do that will help increase his neck strength on the other side (he favours looking to the left).

Now, the boy sleeps the sleep of the dead-he has had a rough morning, and with two band-aids on each leg to show for it too!

What's New With Carter?

Many of you have been asking for Carter updates, so I thought I would use this space to provide you with some. As of yesterday, Carter is officially 8 weeks old (+1 day now). I can’t believe he is already (and only) 2 months!

What is Carter doing now? Well, actually, right now he is sleeping! BUT, that is a good segway. Carter has not changed much since birth in that he sleeps pretty much through the night except to get up once to eat. We are pretty spoiled. However, Carter is getting better and better at putting himself to sleep. As he gets more alert and aware of his surroundings, he likes to fight consciousness, but what do you expect when he has such cool people to hang around with?

Carter is beginning to smile a lot more now. When we get him up from his naps, he is often all grins. It makes it hard when he gets up too early (sometimes he gets up after 45 minutes and can’t put himself back to sleep) because you go in to get him back to sleep, and he is all smiles. Alas, that is the suckie part about being the adult.

Carter is beginning to use his voice a lot more as well. Now, usually this is when he is quite tired, but it is nice for us to hear the cute noises he makes- the coos and the ahhhs. He is sounding less like a pterodactyl, and more like a baby. I am going to miss the pterodactyl noises.

Lastly, Carter is getting better and better at holding his head up on his own for longer periods while on his tummy. He can raise his head for over 10 seconds sometimes and raise his feet as well (for any of you who have tried this at home…it is actually really hard!)

Next week Carter will be getting his shots, and from what I hear, they can’t just put them all into one big needle-so I imagine it will be quite the visit. Considering I like needles, and Matt does not, it is probably good that I am going to this appointment.

SO- I could prattle on and on, but if you are really jonesing for more Carter information, you will have to call.

Happy Heart Day everyone!

Happy Valentines Day. I would like to make a Valentines shout out to all my fans; the grandparents out there...the ants and unkas, the mr.'s and ms.', my mum and dad - XOXO Posted by Hello

Welcome to Carter's Blog!

Well,

It is the first of February, and I figured I had best get my act together and begin a blog for Mr. C. We are planning on using this to post pictures of the little man, but also to give you all updates on how he is doing.

A blog will also allow you, friends and family to also post your comments etc... as well. That is the joy of Blogs. If you want more information on what a blog is, visit:
http://www.blogger.com/tour_start.g
to start your own blog you can begin here:
http://www.blogger.com/start
I am still learning how to use this software/technology-so be patient.

So, sit back, and enjoy-please feel free to share this blog with others as well!
